ANSWER:

Thanks to everyone who showed interest in the section of question of the month and answered the question. In this month’s question, a 76-year-old female patient with 20/20 vision and with no visual complaints was presented. Description of the finding on the OCT image was asked.

The answer to the question is “Choroidal Macrovessel”. As a result of the lottery drawn among those who answered the question correctly, Prof. Dr. M. Selim KOCABORA won this month’s book prize. Congratulations to him.

Choroidal macrovessel was described for the first time by Lima and associates in 2011. OCT is able to detect the macrovessel in the choroid by showing hollowness along the course of the vessel and elevations of the overlying retinal pigment epithelium. Moreover, OCT‐A technology allows simultaneous acquisition of en face OCT scan, which has been shown to be useful for the detection of the choroidal macrovessel.
