Park and co-workers aimed to compare the progression of myopic maculopathy with or without vitrectomy in patients with myopic traction maculopathy. Seventy-seven eyes with MTM were classified into either the observation group (n = 38) or the vitrectomy group (n = 39). Park and co-workerscoluded that surgery in patients with myopic traction maculopathy may accelerate the progression of myopic maculopathy. Therefore, care should be taken when considering surgery for patients with myopic traction maculopathy.
