Can OCT-Angiography help diagnose early stages of Alzheimer’s disease?

In the study conducted by Elizabeth O’Bryhim et al. from Washington University on preclinical Alzheimer’s patients, significant retinal vascular changes have been detected with OCT-Angiography. It was shown that the foveal avascular zone was significantly larger in preclinical Alzheimer’s patients compared to the control group. According to the results of the study, it is stated that OCT-Angiography can help the diagnosis before the clinical findings of the disease appear. It was emphasized that more studies are needed on this subject.O’Bryhim BE, Apte RS, Kung N, Coble D, Van Stavern GP.
