On June 15, 2013, the OCT (Spectralis, Heidelberg Engineering) device was sent to the international space station. Since October 2013, regular OCT scans have been performed to the crew members. Crew members are performing OCT retinal examinations at 1-2 week intervals. Before the crew personnel went to space, the measurements were made with the same machine and the basal measurements were recorded. You may be wondering who is using the OCT device in space. OCT scans in space are made automatically by the machine without the need for any medical personnel. OCT results are eagerly awaited to show retinal changes that may occur in the space environment.
